Holly Cook ~ Flutes & Ethnic Flutes

Holly is an experienced, enthusiastic and committed flute teacher, who has a wide range of experience teaching the flute to students of many different ages and abilities. Holly works in London and Suffolk schools, and also teaches privately. She has assisted on A Breath of Fresh Air flute summer school (led by Anna Noakes) and in ethnic flute masterclasses given at Trinity College of Music.

Holly has also worked in the Music Department at Wells Cathedral School as a teaching assistant. Holly has a thorough approach to teaching all aspects of technique, and she tailors her methods to suit the individual. Holly’s lessons help the student to develop creativity, musicality, improvisation, music theory and memorisation of music.

Holly often demonstrates a range of ethnic flutes in her teaching, which can inspire further interest in flute techniques and aspects of composition. She is experienced at presenting demonstrations of different flutes to classes, and can tailor her demonstration to suit different age groups. Holly’s demonstrations are interactive with the class and include group activities.

Holly teaches from beginner to diploma level, and students wishing to take exams can follow either the ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall syllabus. Holly accompanies her flute students on the piano during lessons, and can accompany students in exams and performances (Grades 1 – 5).

Holly holds a Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) in Instrumental Teaching on the flute with Distinction. She also holds an MMus degree from Trinity College of Music, which included an extended study on instrumental teaching.
